Major Bovine smuggling bid foiled by Jammu Kashmir Police at Gharota, 26 bovines rescued.

Jammu: Jammu Kashmir Police continuing its efforts under Operation KAMDHENU on Wednesday seized one truck from which 26 bovines loaded in cruel manner without proper permission were rescued. 


As per information Police party of police station Gharota headed by SHO Gharota Sukhvir Singh was conducting patrolling and when police party reached at Ring Road one truck bearing registration no. JK14C-8377 coming from Gujjar Basti Kangar Morh towards Nagrota was signalled to stop for checking but despite the unknown driver didn’t stop his vehicle and jumped the random check point. Police party chased vehicle and after some distance the unknown driver left his truck at road side and fled away from the spot with other persons taking benefits of darkness. 


During the search of the said truck 26 bovine animals were found loaded in the truck without food and water. On this the truck was taken into police custody and brought to Police station. In this regard a case FIR no 53/24 u/s 188 IPC,11 PC Act & under sections 50,52,54,56 of Transport of Animal act 1978  registered  at this Police station Gharota. The truck was seized and bovines were rescued under supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma and SP Rural Brijesh Sharma.
