Range level debate competition organized at PHQ; Officers from various wings participate

Srinagar, August 16: The range level debate competition between various wings of Jammu and Kashmir Police was organized by IGP Technical Services, J&K today at the Auditorium of Police Headquarters Srinagar.  

The topic for the debate competition was “Human rights Violation cannot be controlled without controlling crimes by organized criminal syndicates including terrorist outfits and Human trafficking gangs, Narcotics smugglers etc”. Fifteen officers from PHQ J&K, CID J&K, Crime Branch J&K, Railway Police J&K, Traffic Police Wing J&K, SDRF/HG J&K and Police Technical wing J&K participated in the competition.

The Jury members for the debate were Hon’ble Principal and District Session Judge, Srinagar, Shri Jawad Ahmad, Hon’ble Principal and District Session Judge, Pulwama, Shri Naseer Ahmad, Prof. Mufti Mudasir Farooqi, Department of English, University of Kashmir, Prof. Tasleem Ahmad War, Department of English, University of Kashmir, and Dr. Mir Junaid Alam, Assistant Prof., Department of Law, University of Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion Shri B. S. Tuti, IGP Technical Services J&K expressed gratitude to the jury members for accepting the invitation at a short notice and gracing the occasion. He said that following the direction of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Jammu and Kashmir Police is organizing debate competitions to create awareness among the police personnel regarding Human Rights and is an annual feature. The debate competition is organized at different levels of district and range level & who excel at these stages participate at the UT level.

He said that the topic was chosen by the DGP J&K himself and added that all the participants did justice with the topic. He commended all the participants and congratulated the winners of the competition.

Hon’ble Principal and District Session Judge, Srinagar, Shri Jawad Ahmad addressing the gathering thanked the organizers for the invitation and opportunity to be part of the competition and listen to the speakers. He said that the Police is the first respondent of any crime in the society hence has to assess the situation and act as the first judge. He congratulated all the participants and winners of the debate.

In his welcome address, DPT J&K Shri Manoj Kumar Pandit welcomed the jury members and participants. He gave the insight regarding the holding of debate competition which is an annual feature of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

IGP Technical Services J&K and Jury members presented the cash prize and certificates to the winners & participants. PSI Madhu Fakwaria who was declared 1st received rupees five thousand and a certificate, SI (Tel) Abhinandan Singh was declared 2nd was awarded rupees four thousand and a certificate while Inspt Peerzada Bashir got the 3rd position in the competition and was awarded rupees three thousand along with a certificate. All the participants were presented with certificates of participation.
