To mark the celebration of National Dengue Day 2024, the District Malaria Unit under the banner of District Health Society Doda today organized an awareness programme cum debate competition at ANMT School Doda. Incharge Chief Medical Officer Doda Dr Ab Gafoor Ahmed was the Chief Guest, while Principal ANMT School Doda Anusuya Bhan, Principal Taran Paramedical Institute Ghat Ms Farzana Tabassum, Mashhood Latif, Ms Rubeena Ishtiaq, Ms Saima Kousar besides Staff of CMO Office, Malaria Section and students of ANMT were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the programme was started with the Guest Lectures given by Mr Umar Anayat (District Epidemiologist) and Dr Nasir Masood (Medical Officer) who underlined the significance of the day. They also highlighted that dengue can be prevented by controlling the mosquito population through measures such as removing stagnant water resources, using mosquito nets and wearing protective clothing and other important measures which can prevent the spread of the dengue infection.
On this occasion, 06 students from different paramedical institutes viz ANMT School Doda, Taran Paramedical Institute Ghat and Hussain Paramedical Institute Ghat participated, and highlighted the importance of the day.
Dr Javed Ahmed Parray, Mohd Shafi Attu (HE) and Ms Roma Sharma performed the work of Judges, whereas Mr Farooq Ahmed (JHI) managed and coordinated with the whole event.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Dr Ab Gafoor Ahmed educated participants about the Dengue virus, its prevention and control. “Dengue is still one of the most common vector borne diseases in India and it is essential to be aware of the preventative measures that individuals should take to battle the illness, “he said.
On this occasion, IEC material on Dengue prevention was also distributed among the participants by District Malaria Unit Doda.
In the debate competition, Mehar Ul Nisa of ANMT Doda, Zahid Shafiq of Hussain Paramedical Institute Ghat and Sehar Younis of Taran Paramedical Institute Ghat were declared as Ist, 2nd and 3rd Positions respectively, who were awared with Memontos and Certificates.
Mr Faizan A Tramboo conducted the proceeding of the programme.
Similarly, National Dengue Day was also observed in all Medical Blocks viz Assar, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Ghat and Thathri, where awareness programmes were held under the supervision of Block Medical Officers.
