Mayor visits Peer Kho area, review the development works

Chander Mohan Gupta , Mayor accompanied by Adv. Purnima Sharma , Deputy Mayor, Sh Narotam Sharma Councilor of ward no.3 , Sh Arun Gupta Executive Engineer, Sh. Anil Gupta Assistnat Executive Engineer, Sh Daleep Raina Junior Engineer of Division II of Jammu Municipal Corporation and concerned contractor conducted an extensive tour of peer kho & its adjoining areas and took stock of the ongoing development activities of walkway which is being executed by the department at the estimate cost of Rupees Four crore & 24 lacs only, Baba Karan Nath Mahant of Peer kho temple & some prominent citizens of the Area were also present during the tour who raised the issue of non completion of the Peer kho walkway which has already been delayed. Concerned engineering division told the Mayor as well as Deputy Mayor that this walkway in an unique type of project and almost 90% of the work has already been completed and due to nationwide lockdown in view of COVID-19 pandemic, the said activity was forced to stop which has again been started by engaging required numbers of labourers. Mayor informed the public that it is one of the best walkway in Jammu city with length of about 1.06 KM from peerko temple upto Panjithirti having two beautiful view points, two modern type toilet complexes along the route side with lot of seasonal and green plants to make the environment more eco friendly. He further informed that this prestigious walkway is situated alongside of Suraj Putri River Tawi and sufficient number of LED lights will also be installed at this site so that general public can walk freely & also perform meditation here during early morning and evening hours as peerkho temple is one of ancient & religious temple of India and large number of devotees visits the temple on daily basis and after completion of this walkway they can also come & pay obeisance to number of famous ancient temples situated alongside of walkway upto Panjthirti area as earlier due to non-connectivity of approach road it was difficult for common man to reach these temples easily.

Mayor & Deputy Mayor directed the concerned engineering wing to complete the project within one month time by adopting proper social distancing & necessary guidelines of Distt Administration and appeal to the public to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation, in various development activities being undertaken by JMC,  donot use single used plastics, polythene in their routine life , adopt the habit of segregation of dry & wet waste at their own level also, plant more and more saplings in & around their surroundings so that Jammu can be made neat, clean & green city.
