Continuing his drive to provide better development & civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta , Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith Sh Ashok Singh Manhas Councilor of ward no.59 , kick started the construction work of pulleys over the Nallah flowing in the said ward. Sh Parshotam Manhas a prominent social worker and other inhabitants of the ward as well as concerned engineers of UEED & contractor were also accompanied the mayor during the function which was held in a very simple manner . Speaking on the occasion,mayor said that due to lack of any permanent passage over the nallah, the residents residing here were facing great hardships to reach their destinations & they were using either electric poles or wooden logs to cross the nallah which was posing a great threat to their lives & it is worthwhile to mention here that the concerned councilor Sh Ashok Singh Manhas has taken a lot of initiatives to get this vital work of construction of pulleys by the UEED at the estimate cost of RS 13.00 lacs by applying best quality building materials to give more durability to this passage/pulley.
Later mayor also conducted an extensive tour in the various localities of ward no.65 alongwith Sh Subash Sharma Ex-Sarpanch, Sh Narinder Gupta, Sh Dheeraj Kumar & other prominent inhabitants of the locality and inaugurated the macadamization work at Gurah Brahmana & other adjoining areas of ward no.65. Mayor told that this was the long pending demands of the inhabitants of these localities which have recently been included in ward no.65 and most of roads & interior lanes are kaccha ones having big path holes which were creating a lot of hurdles for the pedestrians as well as vehicle owners to pass through these areas smoothly. Mayor said that concerned councilor of the ward Madam Anita Sharma & Sh Subash Sharma Ex- Sarpanch have taken keen interest in starting the blacktopping of all the roads/interior lanes by the Public works department with an estimated amount of Rs 55.00 lacs only. Mayor also met with the locals who putforth various other issues regarding construction/renovation of lanes/drains in the left over areas, installation of more street lights & rectification of defunct ones, deployment of extra SKC’s as their ward which is largely extended one. Mayor listened to their demands with a lot of patience & assured them that all their genuine issues will be sorted out on priority basis.He also appeal to the general public to come forward & cooperate with JMC & other departments in all the development activities being taken by them so that Jammu can be made neat,clean and green city
