Under the leadership of Prof. B.N. Tripathi Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar today celebrated World Environment Day-2024 at Govt High School Dadpeth Tehsil Mugal Maidan of the District. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Dr Narinder Paul incharge KVK Kishtwar organized the event in collaboration with Kamlesh Kumari Head Mistress Govt High School Dadpeth. Liyaqat Mir conducted the proceedings of the programme. While speaking on the occasion, Rabia Bashir Teacher stressed upon measures to learn and incorporate healthy environment related habits in day-to-day life. Liyaqat Mir deliberated in detail about the concept of environment and its relationship with the human existence. Dr Narinder Paul highlighted the role of sustainable agriculture and land utilization pattern for agriculture and other sectors.
During the programme, speech competition on the theme Our land-Our future was held in which students from different standards participated. Samira Banoo, Mehmooda Banoo and Suman Kant teachers from the school were the members of the judging committee. Participating students deliberated upon their vision regarding the growing concern for the major environmental issues and conversion of agriculture land into commercial and no-n agriculture purposes.
Furqan Irshad was judged first whereas, Sakshi Sharma and Nadia Iqbal secured second and third positions respectively in the speech competition. Certificates and mementoes were distributed among the winners whereas certificates of participation were distributed among all the participating students. Saplings were also planted in the premises during the event. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Liyaqat Mir.
