HIMALAYAN VIBES

Prime Minister Nareandra Modi’s visit to Ladakh has served to boost the morale of the Army and ITBP troops on LAC and also sent a strong message to China. It was a display of strong leadership and also statesmanship towards a belligerent China who has bared its fangs towards us. Modi showered copious praises on the valiant jawans and interacted with those injured in Galwan Valley clash with the Chinese on June 15-16. Such visits by has helped in energising the whole apparatus against China in Ladakh – both the civilian and the Military.

However, Modi also took a high moral ground against China as well as spoke pragmatically about its designs against its neighbours. His advice to China – without mention of it – that the days of imperialism are over and the humankind is looking interested only in development and progress.  The speech was such a balance of self-pride and pragmatism about the world that Chinese after hearing Modi should be wondering why they picked a quarrel with India. PM shook the very foundations of Chinese aggression and proved it’s hollow and not supported by history or morality. The imperialistic regimes have vanished into dark pages of history as these were rejected by people and defeated with weaponry and ideology. So, why is China trying to use it in 21st century?

India is the first country to take the dragon with its horns and call its bluff on its designs of hegemony. The rest of the world is taking the cue and we should expect more nation-states taking a tough stand against China’s ambitions and their devastating impact on global peace? ASEAN has taken a stand and the other blocks may follow the suit soon. After all, China’s way of helping the rest of the world, especially smaller nations, has proved disastrous. China is merely eyeing control over these nations by giving them loans they don’t have the capacity to repay. India is also working on developmental projects in other countries in Africa and even Asia. Our companies work with communities as partners and not as masters; we build relationship and not become Lords for the locals. Indians have never taken any country’s land in lieu of development. The world will have to call off Dragon’s bluff now.
