Jammu, August 16 : GGM Science College has proudly secured the first prize in the prestigious one-day painting competition on the theme ‘Partition of India’organised by the Ministry of Culture, The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Regional Centre Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the Department of History, University of Jammu.
The event, which drew participants from various colleges across the region, showcased an impressive array of artistic talent, creativity, and innovation. The painting by Ms. Ishit Kour of BSc. Sem III from GGM Science College bagged the first prize. The winning paintingwas lauded for its profound emotional impact, technical excellence and thoughtful representation of the theme.She was awarded a merit certificate and cash prize worth Rs. 2500/-.The painting vividly captured the human experiences and historical significance of the 1947 partition, resonating deeply with both the audience and the judges.
The Principal of GGM Science College Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta expressed immense pride in the students’ achievement, stating, “This award is a reflection of our students’ deep understanding of history and their ability to convey complex emotions through art. We are incredibly proud of their achievement, which not only brings honor to our college but also serves as a meaningful contribution to the ongoing discourse on our shared history.” About 08 students from the college were screened and shortlisted for the event by members of the cultural committee of GGM Science College Dr. Seema Gandotra, Prof. Yasmeen Mughal, Prof. Kiran Bala, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr. Neha Sharma, prof. Rajesh Bhardwaj, Prof. Mehnaz Bano and Prof. Reetika Raniunder the supervision of Dr. Seema Rani Minhas,
Convenor, Cultural Committee. The competition, provided a platform for young artists to express their ideas and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the academic community.
