In backdrop of COVID 19 pandemic, a review meeting was held today at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu in order to discuss various issues related to smooth supply of fertilizer during the Kharif 2020-21 in both divisions of the Union Territory under the chairmanship of Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Inder Jeet who is also the controller of fertilizers for J & K UT.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Iqbal, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Kashmir, Inderjeet Singh, Deputy Director (Central) Jammu, A. H. Salaria, Assistant Director Law Enforcement Jammu, Bahadur Ram, DGM IFFCO Jammu, Prem Lal, State Manager NFL, Swatanter Sharma, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO, Manish Jain, Manager Marketing CFCL, Divyansh Verma , Representative IPL, and Akhil Vaid, DBT coordinator JK UT.
Issues concerning smooth supply of fertilizers in the UT of J&K, excess stocking reflected in Mobile Fertilizer Management system (mFMS) portal particularly in Kashmir valley and POS machines were discussed thread bare in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Director said that the main objective of the meeting was to ensure the smooth and timely supply of fertilizer to the farmers of both divisions of the union Territory. He directed all the participants to work in coordination to sort out all fertilizer related issues and strategize how to upload the real time data of fertilizer stockings till date on mFMS portal. Taking note some irregularities at wholesale level, he instructed the enforcement agency of the department to look into the matter seriously and take action against violators including cancellation of fertilizer license. He further said that fertilizer is the main input for agricultural and Horticultural crops and any lacuna from any quarters is unacceptable in timely stocking/supply of the fertilizer in the UT.
Director called for full facilitation of fertilizer dealers in up gradation of POS machines to 3.0 version immediately. For training of fertilizer dealers on operating POS machines, he instructed the Coordinator DBT J&K to conduct trainings through video conferencing and short videos in local languages on “How to operate POS”.
