Jammu, August 12 : Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JK-BADC), a registered organization dedicated to the welfare of border residents, felicitated retired soldiers of the paramilitary forces ahead of Independence Day.
In a simple but impressive program, the BADC Chairman and former Vice Chancellor honored Haji Mohd. Ayum Khan, the President of the Confederation of Ex-CAPFWA (Central Armed Forces Welfare Association), the organization that has been spearheading the movement for the welfare of retired Central Armed Forces Personnel. Other team members of the veterans’ association, including over 50 retired soldiers, were also given letters of appreciation for the selfless service they rendered to the nation.
In his welcome address, the BADC Chairperson appreciated the role played by the paramilitary forces in defending national security. He said that the Central Paramilitary Forces are no less than our brave soldiers of the army. Dr. Shazad stated that to neutralize terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and to deal with Naxal-affected areas, the paramilitary forces of India have played a very significant role and added that, unfortunately, successive regimes did not acknowledge their contribution.
Former VC assured the veteran soldiers’ association that BADC would continue to highlight the genuine demands of the retired paramilitary personnel and would also contribute to their welfare with its own resources.
Haji Mohd. Ayum Khan, President of the Association, thanked the BADC Chairperson and said that citizens and social organizations must not forget the supreme sacrifices made by the martyrs of the Central Armed Forces and should support the cause of the association. Other team members of the veterans’ association, including Vice President Mohd. Sadaq Badhana and General Secretary Mohammad Sher Khan, also put forth their views and requested the government to address their long-pending demands. Other prominent people who attended the program included former PRI members such as Khalid Chouhan, ex-Sarpanch of Salani; Subash Sharma, former Sarpanch of Panchayat Gholad; Molvi Qayoom Bakerwal; Zabeer Dulhi; Raqeeb Pathan; Haji Mahroof Jatt; Asim Jatt; and Molvi Farooq.
