Youth Engagement in Electoral Process: Awareness Programs Conducted under 2nd SSR-2024 in Ramban

Ramban, July 29 : In an effort to promote electoral participation among the youth, a series of awareness programs were held at Government Higher Secondary Schools in Dhandrath, Gandhri, Rajgarh, and the Disha Paramedical Institution. These initiatives were part of the 2nd Summer Special Revision of Electoral Rolls for 2024.

On the directives of the District Election Officer (DEO) Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, and under the supervision of dedicated Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) Ramban, Rahul Gupta, the programs aimed to educate new and young eligible voters about the ongoing voter registration process. The goal was to guide them in enrolling themselves in the electoral list to exercise their right to franchise, thereby strengthening the democratic system.

The events featured informative sessions where students were briefed on the procedures for enrolling in the electoral rolls, the significance of voting, and the impact of their votes on governance. Enthusiastic participation was observed from students, highlighting their keen interest in understanding their civic responsibilities.

In Dhandrath, a special session was conducted by the Electoral Literacy Club, emphasizing the role of youth in elections and the steps involved in voter registration. The sessions in Gandhri and Rajgarh schools included interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, allowing students to clarify their doubts about the electoral process.

At the Disha Paramedical Institution, the focus was on reaching out to young medical students, who were encouraged to actively participate in the upcoming elections and contribute to the electoral process by enrolling themselves and spreading awareness among their peers.

These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to ensure 100% registration of all eligible voters in photo voter lists under Second SSR, 2024 in the district.
