Jammu : Citing dwindling vote share of BJP in J&K as witnessed in recent LS polls, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC Jammu accused BJP leadership of misleading people of the region against his party by spreading canards.
In a statement issued to media persons, the NC stalwart leader said that people of Jammu region have always supported National Conference and the party’s vote share in the recently held Lok Sabha elections has once again proven that people of Jammu region have full faith in the leaderships of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. He asserted that those trying to malign their images in Jammu through bogus negative narratives are losing their own ground as the people of J&K have shown them the actual mirror. He said that contrary to BJP’s rhetoric, the voting percentage in recent Lok Sabha elections has proved beyond any doubt that NC has a strong base in Jammu region especially in case of Anantnag Rajouri Constituency where NC leads in all the seven assembly segments of Jammu region.
The senior NC leader said that BJP leadership is looking for issues of non-agenda because under its regime J&K saw its unfortunate bifurcation and degradation from a vibrant state into two powerless Union territories.
Highlighting the failure of BJP in containing unemployment and sky-rocketing inflation, the senior NC functionary said that BJP has lost ground due to its wrong policies but the rising graph of NC is all due to its persistent people-friendly approach as every nook and corner in Jammu region is being looked after by the party despite it being out of power due to manipulative politics of BJP. He said that NC was known for equitable development of the erstwhile state of J&K but BJP is tagged for running an agenda of divisive politics, which has ruined J&K badly as it has created fissures among different sections of the society. He said whether it is Jammu region or Kashmir, the BJP leadership here is not concerned about people’s issues rather it wants to raise the issues only to have political benefits.
The Provincial President also condemned the recent terror strikes in Doda District and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones.
