Jammu : The people of the water-rich state Jammu and Kashmir are entitled to free electricity and water, which we pledge to fulfill , stated by Manish Sahni , president Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K.

In a program organized today at the Press Club of Jammu, state chief Manish Sahni released a poster calling free electricity and water a legitimate right of the people and pledge was taken to make the people aware and fulfill it.

Sahni said that the people of Jammu-Kashmir, rich in water resources, should be given at least 300 units of electricity and up to 30 thousand liters of free water.  Along with this, taking strong cognizance of the increasing power cuts and decreasing water supply in the scorching heat, he said that ‘the government cannot provide electricity and water is useless’. He said that for decades, the National Hydro-Power Corporation (NHPC) has earned crores of rupees by operating hydro-electric projects on the land of Jammu and Kashmir. But the people of Jammu and Kashmir are not able to overcome the crisis of electricity and water. He said that the tax money of the public has been wasted a lot due to the power infrastructure and frequent change of meters. Even after 77 years of independence, the public has not been able to get freedom from power and water cuts. Sahni said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have the first right on the hydro-electric projects operating on our land. He demanded that the projects operated by NHPC be handed over to Jammu and Kashmir, along with this, Along with this, providing electricity to Rajasthan from the Ratle power project of Chenab Valley is said to be a plunder of the resources of Jammu and Kashmir. Sahni said that free electricity and water is the legitimate right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Shiv Sena vows to ensure that they get this right. 

On this occasion, President Women’s Wing Meenakshi Chhibber, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Vice President Balwant Singh, Sanjeev Kohli were present.
