GSI organizes one day workshop on ‘Landslide Disaster Management’.

Geological Survey of India, State Unit: UT: J&K and UT: Ladakh organized a one-day workshop on 20 th of June, 2024 at Jammu, on the topic of “Landslide Disaster Management” under the theme Landslide Disaster Risk Reduction: Need for Coordination, Cooperation, Skill Enhancement and
Implementation Strategy.

The objective of this workshop is to provide a platform for the participants to create landslide awareness, landslide disaster management, causes and remedial measures of landslide. The workshop was attended by representatives from different stakeholder institutions like State Disaster Management Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, J&K, National Institute of Hydrology, Jammu, Central University, Jammu, University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Cluster University, Jammu, Department of Geology and Mining, Jammu and Centre Ground Water Board, Jammu.

The workshop was conducted under the chairmanship of Sh. Rajinder Kumar, Additional Director General and HOD, NR, GSI, Lucknow and convened by Sh. P. S. Misra, Dy. DG, UT: J&K and UT: Ladakh, GSI. Retired senior officers of GSI also participated in the workshop and shared valuable knowledge.

The workshop also provided an opportunity for the participants to interact with experts in the field and share their experiences about landslide studies in UT: Jammu and Kashmir and UT: Ladakh. During the workshop discussion and deliberations were held on the Landslide Disaster Management data generated by the GSI and its use by the different Stakeholders for the societal benefit and sustainable development.
