The 14th Annual Summer Camp of the students of Harbans Roshan Bhalla Educational Foundation (HREF) concluded today. The students performed activities and shared their experiences during the camp. Prominent supporters of the Foundation and parents of the children attended the ceremony.
34 girls from classes 8th, 9th, and 10th attended the camp. They hail from rural areas including Arnia, Jourian, Gurah Salatia, Ranjari, Surinsar, Dansal, Amb,Kangrail, Doomi, etc.
The Foundation also distributed Rs 2 lacs under the Sunanda Dua Memorial Awards to the toppers of the Board exams of 8th,10th & 12th classes. 29 children received the awards. HREF gives these awards every year.
The guests interacted with the students and encouraged them to work hard and take full advantage of the support being provided for their bright future. They lauded the noble contribution of the Foundation to society by reaching out to the neediest students, especially girls in remote areas, and helping them pursue their education.
Students were provided free boarding and lodging as well as free study materials. Medical care was provided by Bee Enn General Hospital. During the 9-day camp, they visited Patnitop for a picnic. They also attended daily yoga classes. Sports competitions were arranged for them. These initiatives brought out the hidden talent and self confidence in students and developed their personalities.
Cash prizes were distributed to the high achievers in academics, debates, games, singing etc and the Red house team was adjudged the best house.
The parents thanked the Foundation for arranging the camp and supporting the education of their children.
The function concluded with a sumptuous lunch shared by the students, parents & Foundation Team.
