Four poultry farms in the Pangyari village of Akhnoor were completely destroyed by fire on Friday afternoon. The estimated loss runs into lakhs. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Poultry farm owner Pawan Sharma reported that three of the destroyed farms had a capacity of 2,000 each and belonged to him, while one farm belonged to his associate Ram Ratan. Pawan Sharma mentioned that due to the intense heat wave in recent day, there were no chickens in the farms, but the maintenance equipment and feed stored there were completely destroyed.
He further stated that as soon as he received information about the fire on Friday afternoon, he rushed to the site and, with the help of the fire department, managed to extinguish the fire. However, due to the extreme heat, the fire had spread extensively, and by the time it was brought under control, everything had been reduced to ashes.
