Removal of the image of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah from the Police medals is not politics but part of the process of reconciling the laws and system of J&K with the rest of the country. So, those trying to raise a controversy about it are just seeking to make some trouble and desperate to kick up a controversy. The bravery medal is a national medal and it is supposed to have a national symbol on it. The move was part of the change that some leaders are trying to wish away despite it helping people and communities get the rights that were denied to them for political reasons. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah has played a historic role in shaping today’s Jammu and Kashmir and there is no way this part of history can be obliterated. It’s another matter that and his successors moved away from the people-centric politics and misused special privileges to deny the rights to common people.
