5-day tribal folk festival inagurated at Abhinav theatre, folk artists from 11 states, UTs to showcase their talent

Five day long National Folk Damce Festival  was inaugurated at Abhinav Theatre. Folk dance groups from 11 states and Union Territories of India are participating in the festival. 

The festival was inagurated by Former Deputy CM, Kevinder Gupta, Additional Director General of Police Security Jammu kashmir police and senior Journalist Sohail Kazmi was also present  on the occasion. 

A colourful cultural programme was also staged by the different dance groups kavinder gupta appreciated the efforts of the organisers and said that such programmes further allow the cross cultural integration of the people of the country.
Kavinder said that present government has taken several measures for the welfare of the scheduled Tribes in Jammu and Kashmir and their traditions and culture needs to be promoted.
“Its my desire that more such festivals should be organised so that artists can showcase their talent to reach wider audiences”.  

North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) and Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu is jointly 

organizing ‘National Folk Dance Festival’ from December 26-28. The festival is of five days and for three days it will be organised at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. 

Artists from from  Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Rajashthan, Odisha and Punjab will participate in it.

The festival is part of our efforts to bring together the tribal artists from different regions of country. Encourage them and ensure that arts forms are showcased to the people. Its a way to preserve the great cultural tradations of India.

He said that Jammu and Kashmir has a rich tribal traditions and artists need a platform to showcase their talent.
