JKBS urges GoI to honour the great writer K.C.Bhagat with ‘Padamshri’ posthumously.

The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Sabha today urged the Government of India to honour the great writer K.C.Bhagat with ‘Padamshri’ posthumously in recognition of his immense contribution towards enriching English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi literature.

JKBS’ General Secretary R.L.Kaith mentioned that K.C.Bhagat was born on October 27, 1927 in the family of Beli Ram Bhagat, a carpenter hailing from a small village Jar Avtal of Ramgarh. His father wished his son to be a carpenter too, but his younger brother Duni Chand wanted his nephew to become some high officer in the Government. So he moved to Jammu along with his nephew for better prospects. K.C.Bhagat was quite fast in learning right from his childhood and proved his intelligence with the passage of time. He was an outstanding student and did his graduation from Lahore University.K.C.Bhagat worked as Tehsildar, Assistant Commissioner with powers of Divisional Commissioner, Director Land Records, Director Social Welfare and various other positions in the J&K State Government Departments. On October 31, 1983, he got retired from service and started writing. Till he breathed last at 97, he had authored thirty three books and several hundred articles in English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi languages attracting countless readers.
