may rebuild a better life.

“Be part of the Plan”, the theme of International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2024, is a call to action for all stakeholders to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity by supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, also referred to as the Biodiversity Plan.

The program began with an awareness lecture delivered by Dr. Anshu Gupta where she apprised the students about the importance of this day serving as a reminder of the rich variety of life forms on our planet and the critical role they play in maintaining the ecological balance, providing ecosystem services and supporting human well-being. She discussed about various issues related to biodiversity conservation such as protection of habitats and ecosystems, conservation of endangered species, impact of human activities on biodiversity etc. Further, she motivated and encouraged the students to be a part of the plan to reverse the biodiversity loss, take collective efforts to conserve and sustainably manage these biological resources for present and future generations. Further, a documentary was screened to make the students understand the interconnections of all living beings and the delicate balance of ecosystems, illustrating how loss of one species can have far reaching consequences for others and for the functioning of entire ecosystem.
