Shiv Sena warns against illegal extortion by liquor mafia.

The Udhampur unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) held a strong demonstration in Udhampur and demanded in a warning tone to curb it and ban the sale of liquor near religious places.

The Shiv Sainiks gathered under the leadership of party district chief Sanjeev Sharma and deputy state chief Jatindra Arora demonstrated vigorously holding placards written “Take action against illegal extortion”, “Tighten the noose on liquor mafia”.Sanjeev Sharma strongly criticized the open extortion by liquor sellers above the marked price and the silent attitude of the concerned department and accused them of collusion.

He said that despite the department having concrete information, no strict action is being taken against the shopkeepers doing illegal extortion, the formality is being completed by imposing minor fines.  He said that not just a few but most of the liquor sellers are charging more than the marked price, this illegal collection increases manifold in the outskirts of the city. He also raised the demand to ban the sale of liquor near religious places in the Devka Nagari Udhampur. In a warning tone, he asked the Excise Department and the Police Administration to curb illegal collection or else the Shiv Sainiks will be forced to take action in their own way.
